RIP: Dennis Weaver

Dennis Weaver passed away today at the age of 81. I'm sure most will remember him from Gunsmoke or as Marshall Sam McCloud. Dennis Weaver also had a deep love of animals and was an environmentalist. He founded the The Institute of Ecolonomics.

Mardi Gras Galveston

(Click for full size)
You know the party is over when they are hauling of the port-o-potties.

Bad Kitty!

Rhett about gave his Paw a heart attack this morning when he found him OUTside the second story screened porch asking to come in. How did he get OUTside? through a hole he (once again) headbonked out of place. It is unclear if he 1. fell to the ground and ran up the outside stairs or 2. worked his way around with his claws outside the screen until it was safe to dismount onto the outside stairs. After John fixed the hole the little shit was right back headbonking that same spot, so IF he fell he did not learn his lesson, now did he?
Bad KITTY.

The Apprentice: Hey Tana!!

Just when I think I am done picking on blogging about Tana she shows up in my small world again.

On her Hey Tana website, the bedazzler queen is now selling t-shirts and, hey Tana there does not appear a plastic jewel or stud on them..hmmm.

Now, IF you purchase a Team Tana shirt she will put your picture wearing same on her Team Tana web photo album.

Oh, let me grab my credit card..not.

The Apprentice

The Apprentice new season official site is up and the show premeires on Monday the 27th. It includes bios of the candidates and a silly little flash game that may or may not be worth a click of your time.
Meanwhile the Trumpster and Martha Stewart are still exchanging words like a couple of kids in Junior High School. Whatever.

Update: In a cruel twist of realty TV fate, The Bachelor is scheduled to air at the same time as The Apprentice. I have an appointment at 7pm and one VCR. Not fair!

Just makes you wanna say.....

......awwwww

Thanks, Chan!

RIP: Don Knotts

Don Knotts passed away yesterday at the age of 81.

While he may be always remembered by most as Barney Fife or Mr. Furley, I remember him best as The Reluctant Astronaut .
I was 7 and it was still two more years before man went to the moon for real.

Fly High, Mr. Knotts....You will be missed.

Shopping: Red Meat

Kroger and former Astro Nolan Ryan have partnered up during the
Houston Rodeo Hoop-lah to sell beef.
Don't have a Kroger?
You can buy Nolan's steaks on-line as well.

Oh...and if you happen to be vegan don't look here.

Mardi Gras Galveston

(click for full size)

It's a rainy Mardi Gras for Galveston Island Party goers.
The Strand Cam is showing light crowds this afternoon,
but I'm sure that will pick up as the day progresses.
If you haven't been before you may notice clumps of revilers centered under those balconies.
Those folks are throwing beads down to the crowd while waiting for the next parade.

Update:
It is 6:30 and time for the parade to start.
How would YOU like to tell all those drunks to get outta the way?

Udate 2:
Now it's 7 and getting dark.
The crowd thickens

The parade begins!

And now back to your regular schedule drinking

In Houston: Dead Bodies

The Houston Museum of Natural Science is featuring a new exhibit called Body Worlds 3.

Man, I really want to see this and check it out you can DONATE YOUR OWN BODY to Dr. Gunther for a future exhibit....weird!

I found this photo album but is is really slow to load, maybe grab a bud-light in a fancy bottle while you wait.

Friday Beer Blogging

Ok, I know I promised not to beer blog any more but isn't this new Bud-light bottle pretty?

I'm thinkin' it must be a special Houston Rodeo bottle, though I don't see that ON there anywhere.

Gosh, these are all most too fancy to drink....not.

Oreo Likes Laundry Too!

I saw this post in Oreo's Blog and I had to laugh because it reminded me of Rhett's entry on "Stuff on my Cat". Sadly Rhett's comments there are filled with spammers. I guess the site got too large to manage properly even though they are selling T-shirts to defray the cost of being so darn popular.

On My SoapBox

How many times to you have to hear that some idiot has left a small child alone in a car only to have the car stolen with the terrified toddler inside.
Too many.

Chandra on TV

Houston's Channel 13 reporter Darren Lyn was in Galveston today covering the upcoming smoking ban and caught my daughter and her co-workers on camera having lunch.

That's her on the left with Ginger.

chan

They were sitting across from Michele, who was interviewed.

Michelle

"We live in a city that is surrounded by plants, and the chemicals coming from the plants are a lot more unhealthy to us than this cigarette that I'm smoking," said smoker Michele Martinez.

Mommy's Little Helpers

I'm finding even though I am working mostly from home, it is still difficult to get even the smallest of household chores completed.

Even something as simple as making the bed
can be difficult to accomplish.

The Bachelor: The Women Tell All

Yet again.....
A full hour of crying and bitching from rejected bachelorettes.
If this show returns for another season which I doubt, I would rather see them do a behind the scenes or blooper show and skip this "Tell All" format all together.

Dancing with the Stars

Lisa Rinna was robbed last week do to Jerry Rice fans voting him to stay for the finals.
whodda thunk so many football fans were watching ballroom dancing.
Not me!

The Apprentice

The Trumpster and Martha Stewart are in disagreement as to why The Apprentice: Martha Stewart failed so miserably.
Seriously, did she even watch it herself?

Thanks Mike for sending me the entire letter.
Man that's harsh!

Holy Overpriced, Batman

For a mere 100,000 dollars you can purchase the George Clooney version of the Batman costume. It does include the nipples in case you were wondering.

On The Island: Mardi Gras

It will be a chilly Mardi Gras Weekend for Galveston party goers.
When we lived on the Island we enjoyed the Seawall parade, but only made it to the actual venue once. After being pushed, groped and puked on, I decided those beads are not worth the effort.
I might watch the crowds on the StrandCam and I will for sure eat some King Cake. Let the good times roll!
