The Bachelor

My very favorite love to hate show, ABCs The Bachelor is back starting Jan. 9th.
This season our victim is Travis. He will be wooing his 25 sluts girls in Paris, France. Oh, and he doesn't speak French.

I was at the bank today and I needed to talk to customer service.
I am third in line. First in line has a question about her home loan, closing costs or whatever, and seems to be a little stressed.
The bank rep is on the phone for her.

Now....2nd in line is tapping her foot, clanking her keys, lets out a big sigh.
OOh, that gets on my nerves when people behave that way and I smile sweetly at her, grateful that I am no longer working in the mall and have to deal with her type every day.

"Do they only have ONE person working here?"
(She is speaking to me, but says it loud enough for all to hear)

"Most likely" I say, trying not to laugh out loud.
You see I had just spotted her purse and truly it is the ugliest purse I have ever seen.
It was shaped like a Santa hat, it even had puff balls hanging off.
How I wanted to say,
"Lady! How you gonna go around with a purse like that and not have any Christmas Spirit?"
Soon, it was her turn and she went on her b*tchy way.

We made just a little one last Christmas.

I was so nervous, I almost threw up on the key board, but I passed!

ABC's Dancing with the Stars will be returning Jan. 5th with an interesting group of contestants.
I'm guessing George Hamilton and Giselle will do fairly well and it will be fun to see some of the others giving ball room dancing a shot too.

The Apprentice: The Finale

Both Teams overcame their respective challenges and had successful events, just as we knew they would.
Rebecca and Randal prepare to fight out the final boardroom on live TV.
Now..I don't think anyone was surprised to hear Trump say to Randal, your hired!
What was surprising is that The Donald then asked Randal should he hire Rebecca too?
Randal didn't even think his answer over.
"I think you should hire only one, Mr. Trump"
And Rebecca just kept smiling....wow that girl is tough.

I love Boston Legal, but they sure make a habit of making fun of Texas don't they?
Last season they were all about lawyers wearing big hats and how Texans are all into killing criminals..oh well that is sort of true but not in such an exaggerated way.
Now tonight they have a dude with a fake accent telling Shore he is a "pistol" and then he says there is some Texas saying:
"You are all hat and no cattle"
What the hell is that?
Keep your dumb sayings to your selves BL.
We don't talk that way in these parts, do some research already.

I hate waiting in line.
It's not the wait so much that bugs me, as it is the annoying people in line ahead of me.
Like, the chick at the grocery store who waits until her order is completely rung up before digging in her purse and getting out her checkbook. Checks take forever anyways, I think everyone should have to use debit cards and speed up the process.
Or at the bank...I always get behind the person who doesn't understand they need 2 IDs to cash a check when they have no account at that bank and want to argue with the teller about it.
Dude, just go to YOUR bank already.
This Bank has eliminated clocks to prevent customers from complaining about the wait time.
Funny, I noticed at the Post Office the other day there was no clock. I looked for one because I wondered how long I had been waiting in line behind a lady who decided to box, address, and tape her packages after the clerk weighed them and told her all the many prices....tap tap tap

It's sunny and cool, but not cold.
The water looks like glass this morning and I bundled up and drank my coffee outside.

I'm sleepy, but have a lot to do with Real Estate classes and 2 Christmas parties to prepare for this week.

Shopping: another one bites the dust

After seeing our local Mervyn's is closing I did a quick web search and see they are closing oodles of stores. That's a shame. I didn't buy a lot in there, but they had nice basics and assessories to choose from at a much better price than Foleys and Dillards. Casual Corner has also been in liquidation for several weeks now as well as closed the on-line store and I will be sorry to see them go.....sigh.

In Houston: Toys for Tots Toy Run

We were on our way to the mall and ran across these guys entering the highway under police escort. It was fun to see so many bikes decorated with Christmas Tinsles and toys. Some riders were wearing Santa Claus suits too.

Speaking of Rita

I love living on the coast, but this is the kind of stuff that freaks me out.
My neighborhood was one of the first to go in the Galveston scenario, ugh.

A plant named Rita

This is the hibiscus that we found uprooted after returning from evacuating Hurricane Rita. Now, I would have just thrown it away and bought another plant in the spring, but John decided to replant it.

All these weeks I have been laughing at his stick plant dubbed "Rita" and now it starts to show life again.
How cool is that?

The Apprentice: Two Tasks

It's week 12 in the job interview and Donald Trump is anxious to tell Randal and Rebecca they are the final two. Randal looked completely blown away and Rebecca stifled a giggle. I think had her ankle not be broken, she would have happy danced all over that suite.

They were invited out to a celebration dinner with George and Carolyn where they were instructed to chose a team of three. There was some negotiating and coin tossing for the guys that both wanted as employees. Randal got Mark and Josh, with Rebecca choosing James and Chris. Carolyn almost choked on her Sushi when Rebecca said she wanted Torel on her team as well. Randal then picks Marshawn and I couldn't believe her name came up last rather than first on their choices. The teams are formed.

The Tasks:
Both of our candidates are given huge charity events to manage.
Randal is given a celebrity soft-ball game working with Outback Steakhouse to raise money for autism and Rebecca is to plan an event sponsored by Yahoo for pediatric AIDS.
Both teams get right to work and the "employees" are excited to be back to work for a win.

Things seem to be going pretty well at first.
Capital Edge meets with Joe Piscopo, who will be the MC for their event and Jake Glaser stops by the venue to speak with them about his mother and the charity. Man, that boy looks just like his Dad.
Exel meets with The Autism Speaks reps and Josh is surprised at the statistics. His wife is expecting a baby, he tells the group.

Things become more stressful when the teams meet with the corporate executives.
Outback wants to know about tents in case of inclement weather, Randal dismisses the notion.
Yahoo is grilling Rebecca about how donations will be requested, she listens and learns.

Now it is the day before the big events and Murphy's Law prevails.

Capital Edge is knocked off their chairs at a phone call from Joe Piscapo.
He can't make it.

Excel is way behind getting the ball park set up, Mark is trying to do it all himself.
Why didn't they hire a few dayworkers to set up those chairs?
And now there is rain in the forecast.
*booming thunder*

Hold the Mango Salsa

Geico has this really funny commercial where a CaveMan orders "The Roast Duck with the Mango Salsa".
I'm wondering what in the heck is Mango Salsa?
So, I found this recipe for Island Chicken.
It has Mangoes in it, and I gave it a try last night.
First you marinade the chicken in the salsa, then bake it, then top it with more Salsa.
The chicken came out real tender and juicy.

I totally did not like the mangoes and pineapples on there.
John liked his OK, and Chan just said, Eh... And scraped hers off after seeing me do the same.
Pass the salt please.

I had to laugh because Josh was much the same at that age.
I had to avoid the department store Santa's for a couple of years in fact as even one HO HO HO could send him into hysterics.

Real estate stuff

Well I'm taking my prep-class next week so hopefully I will earn my agents license by the end of the month.
I am taking practice tests on the computer and not doing so well.
This is possibly because I get bored, pause the test and start surfing around.
I doubt they have that kind of format at the testing center.
If they do I am in big trouble...:)
