100 Word Stories

The Stepping Stones
A 100 Word Story submitted to the Weeky Challenge
at http://podcasting.isfullofcrap.com

Looking around at her neighbor’s well manicured lawns,
Paula decided she wanted to spruce things up a little bit.

She bought some plants at the local hardware store and spent the entire afternoon digging holes and planting an attractive assortment of greenery.

Then, she carefully chose just the right stepping stones and
placed them in the dirt forming a lively little garden path.

Beautiful! Just like in a magazine” she smiled proudly.

The next morning (running late as usual)
Paula caught her heel, then hit her head on those very stumbling blocks that she had so carefully created for herself.

It's not a LoJack, it's a cell phone

Have you seen the commercial with the kid who presents his parents with an itinerary for his day?
I think it is for a Disney cell phone.

Anyway, the parents check on the kid later in the day, by logging in to see where his phone is located.
"He is still at the big tree" Dad smiles

Well, my first thought was the PHONE is at the big tree and the little brat is off doing something he should NOT be doing and will pick up the phone later assuming Mom and Dad are too stupid to figure it all out.

At least that is how it would have worked at my house.

Sorry, Josh....but you know that is the truth....haha.

The Bachelor

The new season of ABC's The Bachelor will make it's debut on Monday.

I am undecided if I will blog the show this season, my entries got very little response last time and to tell the truth, I'm a little surprised to see it back anyways.

The Apprentice: Season 6 is a Wrap

George H Ross has announced he will not be in the boardroom when The Apprentice resumes in January. On an Inside Edition interview, he stated he only missed being on the show for "about 5 minutes" and he has "plenty to do in New York".
No doubt, he will also be busy promoting his book.
He will be missed.

Work Related: Property Descriptions

I love reading what other agents put on the MLS for property description.
Today, I am searching for lots for a client who is building a country home.
One listing states there are no deed restrictions and the land is partially cleared.
Then it says:
No well or septic. Enjoy!!!!

Enjoy?

It's Tummy Tuesday!

Come on Rhett!
Show us that Tummy!

Rhett, you are such a tease.
Show us that tummy!

No

Tummy Tuesday started out at LisaViolet's Diary and

Fun With Site Meter

Scattered among the searches for Cat Puke and Deep thoughts was this one.
Apparently my Jan. archives contained most of these words.
I hope they found what they were looking for.
I didn't actually look further to see.
NOT interested.

Happy 2nd Birthday Lezley

We miss you!

Work Related: ASAP

A client sends me an email, she would like to see a specific property ASAP. Well, the name is familiar, so I go into my data base and sure enough this is a client I worked closely with at the beginning of the year and then she kind of vanished on me.
Now I try not to take that personally, but....Well that is a whole 'nother post.
anyways......

Wow! I think, she has it together now and we are going to buy something at long last.

So I give her a quick call, Does she want me to set an appointment for this evening?
Oh, no she cannot go today.
Tomorrow then?
Oh, no she does not have time tomorrow but she will get back to me.

So the point of asking for an appointment ASAP was what?
I guess she doesn't have it together yet after all....Ha.

Monday Beer Blogging

Well, this is a no brainer!

You Are Bud Light

You're not fussy when it comes to beer. If someone hands it to you, you'll drink it.
In fact, you don't understand beer snobbery at all. It all tastes the same once you're drunk!
You're an enthusiastic drinker, and you can often be found at your neighborhood bar.
You're pretty good at holding your liquor too - you've had lots of experience.

In the interest of posting kitty posts in the kitty blog.

RicoLoco Is Limping

He does not appear to be in any pain.
I can move the limb around without him acting like it hurts and there is no swelling at all.
I suspect he jumped off our spiral staircase from too high chasing Rhett.
He wants to do everything the big cats do and I have seen him jump from halfway a couple of times this week.
I hope he has not really hurt his silly little self.
Of course if he needs medical treatment he will get it,
but man I really can not afford another a vet bill right now.
Crap.

On a funny note, did you know if you put RicoLoco in spellcheck the suggested spelling is "Reckless". Sounds about right.

Update: He seems fine now, but I doubt he learned his lesson

Sewing Again!

I used to have a hobby before I discovered the internet and dusting off my old machine to make some Christmas gifts.
I worked 8 years for Hancock Fabrics and have quite a personal stash of fabrics and notions to show for it.
In fact, I have come across a huge box of unfinished projects from years past.
Of course I will be working only a few feet from the computer.
This chair has wheels.
You know....so I can check my email and stuff..ha.

100 Word Stories

Well,
I forgot to submit my story this week for the 100 word challenge.
But here it is just the same
===============================

The Untold Legend of Bloody Hook
A 100 word story

On a road to nowhere in particular,
A shiny metal object lay gleaming in the moonlight.

The scene was gruesome, young lovers cut down.
Several of the cars on Lover’s Lane were still running,
The occupants too involved with each other
to see what was coming.

He had lusted for the fame and attention his crime would bring.
He could not believe his own stupidity.
He had killed them all, and left no one to tell the story!
Damn it! He cried and banged his stump against a tree.

No one left to tell...

The legend of The Bloody Hook.

Popeye's Revenge

I guess everyone has heard by now that a whole lot of people are getting sick from eating pre-packaged spinach. I seem to recall this has come up before with other types of pre-packaged salad greens and had already gotten in the habit of rinsing them off just in case.

Speaking of spinach,
Did you know the (self proclaimed) Spinach Capital of the world is right here in Texas?

A search for Christmas countdown santas

I really should put that one on a Christmas card

Shopping: The Vidalia Food Chopper/Smasher

I saw these on the infomercial a few times and decided I need one.

It looked pretty good and comes with a little cleaning tool too

I couldn't wait to try it out on some chicken salad.

Well,

It smashes pickles

It chops eggs

It chops peppers if they are cut small,
otherwise they get smashed

Same with onions, this one is smashed

It kinda smashes tomatoes too, but not too bad

It's easier to just chop them up I think

Work Related: You Gain one you Lose one

I took a listing yesterday, a great looking condo on the Island.
Anyone need a beach get away?
Email or leave a comment for more information

I also lost one as of tomorrow.
Sadly I just could not find a buyer for this little house and my client has chosen not to extend our contract.
In fact, when I asked her when is a good time to pick up the lockbox and return the key, she said whenever just leave the key under the mat and take your sign and stuff...ugh.

Failure really sucks

Not A 9/11 Post

I didn't prepare a post for 9/11.
I'm not good at writing sentimental things, even if I am touched by reading them.
So today,
I am doing what Americans all over this great country are doing.
I'm just working.
I'm working because that's what Americans do best.
We work.
God Bless those affected by the murders of 9/11.

100 Word Stories

My entry this week for the 100 word story challenge
at http://podcasting.isfullofcrap.com
The subject this week is "Time Travel"
====================

It was most unlikely that you would ever find Paula contemplating the theory of relativity.

She had met a handsome physics professor who invited her to take a ride in his newly constructed time machine.

He explained the workings of his great invention, and not being a deep thinker she eagerly accepted the invitation.

Would she prefer to travel forward or backwards? He asked with an evil grin?

Forward please she replied, and stepped into a looming metal box with double sliding doors.

After a few moments she realized her mistake and following a well placed slap, exited the elevator

=================

All the entries are posted HERE, so go listen up and vote for your favorite stories
AND
If you want to write your OWN 100 story,
next weeks topic is "A Bloody Hook"
Should be fun!

In Galveston: Remembering the Storm of 1900

On this day in the year 1900 over 8,000 people are estimated to have died in a devastating hurricane, known on the island as Isaac's Storm.

I'm So Blonde: and Spell Check Doesn't Hide it Either

So I have a meeting in Houston this morning, but I wanted to send out some emails before I head out for the day.

I quickly constructed a "just checking in" type email, went down my contact list, and sent it out copied and pasted each time to about 25 contacts that I have not heard from in a while.

When I got to the very last one I realized.

I had mis-spelled my own name...ugh.
