I know I don't usually post specific experiences with clients, but I am very annoyed pissed off right now.

I spent 4 days with a very nice older couple here from out of state.
They had to buy a house for cash ASAP.

I showed them more than 40 houses, used more than 2 tanks of gas and dried out a ton of ink to print paperwork, surveys, disclosures, MLS sheets and such for them.

So...
They made two offers. We got counter offers, but fair ones.
Really, they could have had either home at a very good price.

Then....
I get an email this afternoon that they are going home and "might" come back for another look at the market in the Spring.

You know what?
I gave up 3 pre-qualfied LOCAL Clients to other agents in my office so I could free up time for this crap.

At least I had the foresight to pull out those homes I thought may interest other clients I am working with.

Maybe I can get something going there.

At least I hope I can....*sigh*

We had a little cool front come through just in time to make
Thanksgiving "feel" like a Thanksgiving.
These guys seem to be enjoying the cooler weather as much as we do.

Shopping: Black Friday

I've noticed a trend of stores actually opening ON Thanksgiving (Kmart for example) in order to get a jump on Black Friday Shoppers.

This year I see JC Penney and Kohls are opening-I mean did open- this morning at 4am.

I refuse to attend this type of sale. Why reward greedy corporations that do this to their employees just to turn a few post T-day bucks when they could easily have the same sale at 9am?

The execs that dream up these type of promotions are most likely warm in bed this morning, enjoying a 4 day weekend with their families, and make more per month than those employees do all year.

It's just not right.

On The Canal: Spots and Stripes

It 's always amazing how many kinds of fish we can pull out of our canal and have taken to having a little light hearted competition in the evenings.
We ended up today with at tie 4 to 4.

John only caught 3 little Sand Trout
but finished up with this beautiful Red Fish.

I caught a drum, a smaller Redfish and and two of these striped fish.
John says they are Black Drum, but I had not seen one before.

The photo is the smaller of the two.
I know all fisherman say that, but it's the truth.
The OTHER Stripey fish was MUCH bigger!
Really!

I sent the fish to the Friday Ark, but
no worries they did all live to swim another day.

I was just goofing around in my blog dashboard and happened to notice my profile says I am 251 years old. I'm not sure how I managed to set it up that way, but I guess that's close enough..ha.

On The Canal: Being Neighborly

This was on my porch today!

It is a tradition in our subdivision that goes back a few years.

My task now is to make up two treat baskets and leave them at my neighbor's homes.

Each household hangs the little ghost cutout in a front window, so others know this home has already been "treated".

The idea is that by Halloween every house will have a ghosty in the window.

Cool, huh?

They looked really awful.
Maybe this cut of pant looks better on young people, or maybe tall people but I have my doubts.



SO..I bought a basic black skirt and this cute sweater.
Skirts are nice too, but now I need shoes.
Or boots.

In The Gulf: Humberto

There was much excitement yesterday when a simple tropical depression suddenly became stronger and set it's sights on Galveston. The wind and rain really picked up during the late evening hours, but the storm passed on by and made landfall farther up the coast.
I had loaded up on snacks and beer thinking we would have the day off today to watch the rain, but all is well and we had to get up and go to work.....phooey.

Work Related: Open House

I hate open house.

It's funny when you watch those house flipper shows on HGTV (you know you do) they always have about a zillion people show up for the open house and almost always they sell it that day.

My open houses usually go two ways.
Seller wants an open house like they have on TV

1.Nobody shows up.
or
2.Only nosey neighbors show up
Seller is mad because the house didn't sell at open house like it does on TV

Now yesterday I held one of my listings open at the request of my client.

I brought the cookies and the drinks and of course some contracts and expecting the worst, set up my computer to play on POGO.

Well guess what?

People came! All buyers!

I didn't write a contract BUT not only did I get very important feedback on the property (good and bad) I also picked up 3 new clients who have not yet chosen a realtor to work with and 2 of those have loans set up already.

I love open house!
