A thin layer of ice is on the water this morning.
It looks really strange!
The plants took a hit, but hopefully they will be OK.
It is very rare for us to be below freezing and will beglad to see it warming back up this week
It's not that I'm not capable of any...I simply choose not to bother

Ohhhhh boy! I'm sending prayers for your plants! That is NOT lookin' good... The canal looks purrrty though!
PJ,
I'm thinking the plants have bit the big one. Like Melli...it isn't looking good for them. There was a woman who fell in a pond today. It was frozen, but hello! it is still not Minnesota here. She was in there for a good while too. She was in pretty bad condition at the hospital where they are probably xraying her sinuses to see what is wrong with her.
PJ, many of my daughter's plants look just like those of yours -- and a few of mine, too! I wasn't pleased with some of my frozen plants, and I've already had them ripped out. I'll replace them with things I like better -- BUT I checked my daughter's plants by using my thumbnail at the base of several of them -- and there's GREEN just barely under the brown "bark"!! Hooray! So she'll wait until late Feb or whenever we're safe from any frosts or freezes; then she'll trim them way back and water like crazy!
