Work Related: Just Venting

I have gotten behind with blogging because I am so busy with working.
YES......that is a good thing for the most part, but so much of my work is not productive and truly I would be happier just spending part of the day blogging even if it is just pictures of cat tummies.

Example 1: 2 days research for out of town client, they are IN Houston for Only the ONE day... URGENT...must find house!
Client calls morning of many appointments made.....no time to see homes today will call next trip.
shit.

Example 2: I am on my way driving across town for a last minute showing, this person has to see this house NOW. ...CAN NOT see another time PLEASE show today.
When I am 2 blocks away she calls...the house is ugly can I show a different one instead??
Ummm .......No.

Example 3: Ok I can't tell this story in case this idiot finds my blog

Example 4: One of my problem listings actually sells, it's a great house but in a remote area.
The buyers agent lives in cave man times. He can not scan documents and his fax machine produces illegible crap. I must hand deliver everything to every party or the title company and lenders and my broker will freak out.
Then after all that time, gas and drama, these buyers find a different house they prefer and cancel the contract.
WHATever

Example 5: Well, crap I better not tell this one either but thanks for listening

On a happy note, I have met an important sales goal this quarter assuming all will close that are supposed to close...which again takes away from blogging because it is a VERY long walk from offer to closing right now.
Shoot, it's pretty much a marathon.
I like a challenge, really I do.

Blast From The Past

I had the strangest call the other day from an old friend.
NOW
When I say "OLD" I mean I have not seen or spoken to this person
since we were 7 years old!

My family lived in Billings, Montana at the time then
moved to Kansas when my parents separated.
Ginny and I never got to say
goodbye and have been in each others thoughts
ever since.

A Little Spooky

WEll...we were watching this movie I got from NetFlix Saturday called De Ja Vu with Denzel Washington.

Then after the movie I was flipping around the channels to see what else was on and on FX was a Denzel Washington movie that looked kind of familiar.

So I stopped to watch a minute and got a sense of De Ja Vu

Because that was the very movie that was on right then.

Wierd huh?

Is it just me, or are food products shrinking??

It seems to me that as food prices continue to rise.
Product sizes continue to shrink.

For example:
I have been purchasing Totino's Frozen Pizza for
MANY years and I am not accusing here
but......

Only recently have 2 pizzas fit easily on one cookie sheet.
Hmmmmm

After Ike: Cantina Update

We had extra tile so John made a counter top
We still have to stain the cabinets and buy knobs and handles

but the sink is in!

The tarp is coming off the stairs today...YEAH!!

I'm so Blonde: And I Look Good in Everything I Drink

So I am running late for a client and realize I have no drink so buy this big-ass ice tea at Sonic and cram it into my cup holder.

Well what I didn't notice is John had left some toothpicks in there from when we ate out the other day.

Soon I am flying around the beltway, pick up my tea and a gush of very cold liquid starts pouring onto my lap.

Then I quickly cram the cup back in the holder to minimize the spill

And there it still sits

After Ike Update: The Cantina

After a very expensive trip to Lowes the floor trim and
Cantina cabinets are purchased

To save money we ended up choosing unfinished.
Now I just have to decide between paint and staining.

The floor is really coming along.

It may be done this weekend.

I am SO ready to get the downstairs reopened and
move the litter boxes back down.

After Ike: End of the Week Update

Some progress this week, the bathroom is tiled and
the fixtures are going in.
We will have to go back and put in trim but should
have a functional bathroom very soon

John has started laying out the tile in the
entertainment area. It will be easier to do this before
moving in and working around the bar area.

The roofers have delivered the materials and will
start working on Monday.
Can you believe this little pile costs over $5,000??

After Ike Update: Happy Cats!

After 3 and a half months of saying NO you can't go out,
we can finally open the door and say Go outside!

Yes the birds are still here!

Now they are zooming in and out just

like old times

Hopefully we can let them downstairs again soon as well.

The roofer dropped off some samples.
We chose one called

The gifts are wrapped up. The cat sitter is set up. The suitcases are packed up and we we are headed out the door.

Lots of family celebrations topping off with Chandra's wedding this weekend.
What a neat way to end a stressful year.

Work Related: After Ike

Sorry to be slow with the posts.
I am very busy with work right now.

Along with my usual transferring, moving up and investor clients I have four hurricane Ike families I am working with. These folks lost their homes to storm surge. There is literally nothing left. One client said.."the house was just a house but the losing the contents broke our hearts".

It's just very humbling.
