We Voted

They are doing early voting a few blocks away so we went ahead and cast our ballots. We just don't think anything either of these candidates will say or do in the next week will affect our thinking.
So now we wait.

After Ike: End of the Week update

John has a lot of the sheetrock up now, but everything stopped when he decided that this was the perfect opportunity to build a couple of much needed closets.

Smart thinking!

I'm Back

The hotel was very pretty.
They kept us running most of the day and the food was a little strange
but I took away a lot of good things to bring back to my team.
It's good to be home.

Leaving On A Jet Plane

I have to attend a convention in AZ. This is not a good time to be leaving, but it was planned way in advance and pretty much mandatory. Our schedule looks pretty full of meetings, but at least the place looks pretty. I'll try to get some cell phone pics.

After Ike: Slow Going

John has been working too many hours for us to make much progress this week. We decided to save time we would just paint the utility area floor, then worry about the tile later.

Hot water is not too far away now

He is also trying to complete the litter box area so we can get those cat boxes out of my office. They are so stinky!

I found a can of Glade Christmas Pine scent thinking that would help but now it just smells like a bear shit in the woods in there.
not kidding.

I don't work here

I don't know why it is every where I go someone asks if I work there.
Today I am in sweat pants and Tshirt in a somewhat upscale store and some chick walks up and says..."how much are these pillows?"
It's just weird.

On The Island: Coastal Living Idea House

Coastal Living's Texas Idea house was scheduled to open this weekend in Beachtown but was delayed by hurricane Ike. I have read this magazine for a very long time and anxious to see this house. I'm sure it will be worth the wait!

After Ike: End of Week Update

The debris removal team made to our street at last!
It was kind of interesting to watch
This white truck pushes the pile up
Then the yellow one picks it up and dumps it all
in the big black truck
The clipboard guy mostly just watches, but sometimes
he picks up a stray chunk and tosses it into the pile
and INSIDE....
We almost have all of this crap scraped up now.
My arms are sore!
Now we have to scrape the popcorn off the ceilings.
The To-Do list just keeps growing.
Rhett wants to help!
He is constantly trying to find a way to get downstairs.
Not yet, little buddy!
We have to complete the utility area first.
Hot water is the next priority!
John has already started the sheetrock and
we are choosing the tile this weekend.
Now the really big news!
We got the electric back!
The electric guy showed up, put in the new meter and turned it on.
I didn't tell him we have not been inspected yet.
Who am I to interupt his very important work!
We also got cable Thursday morning,
but its been on an off since then.
In the neighborhood
The state has most of the boats and other big debris off the road.
Now they are working on guard rails and signs.
There are like no road signs anymore, it's so weird.
The water has been deemed safe to drink and the bathroom safe to use now.
The blue outhouses have been removed!
I was just as happy to see them leave as I was
when they arrived
More later!

They Survived Ike

I was able to save both Dottie Amanda and her naked
brother from the flood surge of Hurricane Ike.

I took them to the laundry and gave them a
good soapy bath. The heads kept floating and I had to
Keep pushing them back in the water to get them clean.

A guy walked by and jumped a little when he glanced in
my machine. I'm not sure WHY he was glancing
in my machine anyway but truly
the whole Laundromat experience is?
A whole 'nother post.
